TAPAI (FERMENTED GLUTINOUS RICE)

Tapai or popularly called in Malaysia as Tapai Pulut. Tapai is a tasty sweet dessert made from fermented glutinous rice, it's origins are unclear to which state in Malaysia this delicacy is from.

This exotic tasting delicacy is usually popular served during the festive month of Hari Raya. To describe how it taste would be quiet difficult to relate to a reader, experiencing it is still the best. However for those that don't get a chance to visit Malaysia, Tapai tastes like this... it has the sweetness of wild honey dashed with vanilla and a distinct tinge of Tuah (local rice wine...like sake).

the taste may also vary depending on the leaves used to wrap the Tapai and steamed in, but the signature flavor that is always present is the tinge of Tuah regardless what leaf was used. (e.g.; pandan, banana, cashew) This exotic dessert i give 5 goblin stars to my taste bud rating.
