Bangkok Dangerous
It's just a title from a movie of Nick Cage, in fact Bangkok is very safe in comparison to major cities around the world, in all probability, you will have no problem walking alone at night.
Accommodation and food is cheap, transportation between destinations in Bangkok is easy and many people can speak at least some English.
The local hospitality to tourists is excellent I dont have any complaints to that, when it comes to Thai hospitality anywhere in Thailand may it be Bangkok, Phuket, Pataya I feel at ease and at home with the people.

I just love Thailand, and soon Ill be retiring over there ;).....places that you shouldn't miss when in Bangkok is virtually endless youll just fall in love with the city as it grows on you...eventually you'll never get tired of it and find yourself wanting to go back for more to discover its vast hidden charisma
Bangkok has no less than six vibrant nightlife districts, each packed full of unruly clubs, style, beats and hedonists galore! Sukhumvit, Khao San Road, Silom, Ratchada & RCA, Siam, Chidlom and Ploenchit.Expect to see lots of pink colored taxi's Evolving, energetic and always exciting, Bangkok's club scene demands to be experienced. Many clubs are as cosmopolitan as they come, sporting world-class venue design, sound systems and drinks menus. Admission is usually free, with the exception of a few high-end venues who showcase international DJ's
It's worth planning what you want to spend most of your time seeing and being in Bangkok and staying near there, as Bangkok's traffic makes getting about a struggle to say the least.
Backpackers tend to head for Khao San road in Banglamphu, which has dozens of cheap guesthouses, cafes, and basically everything that you could need to buy. It's in a great location too, near the river and the top sights such as the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, and others in Banglamphu, and Ko Rattanakosin. It's completely dominated by foreigners and so it's hardly the most authentic place to stay in Bangkok though. Decent mid-range places in this area are scarce, pretty much limited to the Royal hotel and the Vieng Tai.
A lot of mid range and upper mid range hotels are across the city on Siam Square and Sukhumvit road, which is a good place for shopping and nightlife but a long way from the traditional sights and the river. They do have the advantage of being on the skytrain route, which makes getting about a lot quicker.
Some of the top hotels in Bangkok(e.g. The Oriental, the Shangri-La) are located by the river, and in business district around Silom road.In most cities nighttime means closing time. Not so, here in Bangkok. Come dusk, Khao San Road teems with unkempt travel wear. And Patpong Market’s tarpaulin covered stalls – each brimming with counterfeits or exotica - don’t even kick into life until the area’s office workers are tucked up in bed. Just two examples, among several, of Bangkok’s love affair with the after-dark shop.
bootleg Valium and Viagra is all over the place, you find them at street corners even outside as you walk out of your hotel, it is sold like candy :) ...i just wonder if it works.
