NASI LEMAK (Taman Paramount LRT Station)
Beneath the unsuspecting wrapping is quite a filling feast. Nazi Lemak is a dish that is commonly sold in Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore and Southern Thailand. In fact, it has been called the unofficial national dish of Malaysia.
Just as you exit the Taman Paramount LRT station you will find a make shift stall that is owned by a Malay couple who has been there already for over 10 years. As early as 6 am you already would find a queue of customers, mostly students and those who work around the Paramount Gardens area.
The nasi lemak is prices from RM 1.50 (US 40cents) for the basic, containing rice, crispy anchovies, sambal, slices of cucumber and half a hard boiled egg, the price goes up with the addition of squid, chicken or Kerang (cockles). This fare i had in the picture is worth RM 2.50 (US 70cents). The rice is fragrant and not too rich the sambal is fantastic spicy with a tinge of lemon grass and a note of just nice being sweet.
